Baking Soda is your skin's best friend!

Baking Soda is your skin's best friend!
Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate, a natural substance that is crystalline but often appears as a fine powder. This alkaline substance has antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also a powerful medical tool effective at combating everything from colds to oral problems to skin issues.

Baking soda is alkaline in nature and thus balances the pH levels of your skin to make it glow with radiance. It exfoliates the dead skin  to expose fresh new skin from beneath. This helps in lightening your skin as all the dull dead skin is scrubbed away naturally by baking soda.

To get rid of acne or pimples, you do not need harsh chemicals. Baking soda will do the work easily. The antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties of this kitchen staple helps treat the cause as well as reduce the symptoms of acne and other breakouts.

Uneven skin tone is a major problem for many. If you want a brighter and even skin tone, baking soda is an easy and inexpensive solution.

Baking soda is an alkaline substance and for this very reason, it not only sloughs off dead skin cells but also helps in tightening the skin pores. Adding other skin tightening ingredients like honey to baking soda make it more effective remedy for skin tightening.

If your sun burn has reached a level where you suffer from itching and burning, look no further than baking soda as it has a very soothing effect on such burning skin. This is due to the alkaline properties of baking soda. Use it to make a cool compress for your sun burn affected skin.

When your skin pores get clogged with dead skin, oil and bacteria, you can see these tiny monsters called acne. And if you don’t deal with them properly, they leave after giving you what is called acne scars. So, if you have some of these scars on your face, what all you need is some baking soda and water. Baking soda will exfoliate the scarred skin and help reveal fresh new skin without scars.

If you didn’t know, baking soda has antibacterial properties too and has some anti inflammatory effects too. Because it can also dry out your skin due to its alkaline properties, you can get relief from itching and swelling that come with skin rashes. Use baking soda to relieve skin rashes.

Baking soda can help contain the growth of fungus on your skin. The plain reason for this is the alkaline nature of baking soda. It makes your skin alkaline, a state where fungi cannot thrive or spread. Once the skin again becomes acidic, fungus can grow there.

Baking soda is effective when used for short periods. However, excessive use can damage your skin and hair. Also, you should do a patch test to determine whether your skin is sensitive to it.

Calendula is excellent for your face

Calendula is excellent for your face

Calendula is one of the most healing, anti-inflammatory, antiviral herbs on the planet. It’s easily harvested and extracted and looks beautiful whether the flowers are in a pot or steeping in a large glass jar. It can be made into a cream, oil, gel, compress, tincture or tea; used in a bath or facial steam; eaten in salads and stews; whipped into toothpastes or mixed into mouthwashes; and is gentle enough for babies and the elderly!

Anti-inflammatory and Anti- bacterial: in earlier times, it was often used to disinfect wounds, and treat burns and skin infections (like ringworms and athlete’s foot). Documented reports also reveal that in earlier times, calendula oil was even used as a treatment against staphylococcus infections as the oil effectively killed the nasty bacteria that ate away at the flesh.

These days, the essence, extract or oil of calendula is incorporated into emollients and washes to fortify healing effects – calendula-infused products are still used by people who want to naturally aid the healing process of their wounds. It’s commonly used to treat acne, dermatitis, diaper rashes, dry skin, eczema, insect bites, and hemorrhoids.

Antioxident Rich- Calendula is rich in antioxidants like carotenoids, vitamin A pre-cursors, that help to swipe away free radicals which can cause premature aging. It’s also very rich in tocopherols, or vitamin E, another antioxidant with amazing skin softening abilities. In addition, some preliminary studies who's the linolenic acid in calendula oil may also help reduce photo aging from the sun.

Brightening and Regenerating- Calendula is an all-natural skin brightener effective at reducing the appearance of scars. Studies reveal that the extract of this herb blossom can stimulate the production of collagen which is important in proper skin regeneration so for those with dull skin who want to regain their youthful, glowing skin, calendula-infused toners and moisturizers can surely do the trick.

Candle Doctor Health Benefits of Soy Candles

Candle Doctor....... Health Benefits of Soy Candles

Candles are awsome for relaxing and making things look nice, as well as for a nice lighting effect. But have you ever considered the health benefits of them?

Memory-Science shows that certain senses, particularly the sense of smell, link directly to memory. So if you smell something you've also smelled when experiencing something memorable, you will remember it easily and it will be much more vivid!

Mood- Your mood also directly links to things you smell! Scented candles can directly change your mood - soft smells like lavender and berries can make you feel more relaxed, and more deeply and sharp scented candles like mint can make you feel adventurous and energized!

Sleep - Soft-scented and particularly strong smelling or aromatic candles have been shown to reduce symptoms of insomnia and help people fall asleep faster! Be careful however, as these can prove a fire hazard if left un-attended.

Allergies- Soy candles have been shown to reduce allergy symptoms and clean air, making it not only smell nice but also purifying the air!

Essential oils-When an aromatherapy candle is made with high quality essential oils they can have a positive impact on our bodies. When the candle is burned it releases a faint yet constant stream of vapor from the essential oil into the air. We then inhale these and they enter the bloodstream, having a similar (though less pronounced) effect to an aromatherapy massage or treatment.
